Details of Flash Player 8's Flash Player 8.5's support for E4X ("ECMAScript for XML") was accidentally leaked on the flexcoders board last night. While the post is focused on Flex 2.0, it does state that "By the time that Flex 2.0 ships, the Flash Player will support E4X ('ECMAScript for XML'), a set of programming language extensions adding native XML support to ECMAScript."

Update: (10/7/05) Well it turns out E4X wasn't a part of Flash Player 8. However, with the news of Flex Builder 2 and Flash Player 8.5, we can expect E4X to be a part of ActionScript 3. More info over at Brajeshwar's blog.

Thank you for visiting Flash Pearls. My initial idea for this website was to showcase websites that support web standards and make use of Macromedia Flash, but I feel there are few well-designed sites that would qualify. So I have decided to instead give special recognition to those sites that are "standards compliant." I hope that with time, every site added here will feature excellent design with valid, tableless, CSS-based, standards compliant code.

Be sure to bookmark this site, use your del.icio.us bookmarklet, and/or subscribe to our RSS Feed so you can always be aware of the latest and greatest Flash websites.
